SXSW was a hell of an event. Upon returning from 14 days on the road for CES in early January 2018, I was told we were going to SXSW, doing a full building takeover and I was to technically direct the AV experiences for Bose AR plus handle all equipment needs. This project was very exciting, the timelines were very tight since we had less than 2.5 months to get all the details together on 3D printed products that weren’t even functioning yet and had to build demo experiences around these vaporware concepts. The execution team worked in lock step with the VP of Consumer Electronics to expedite any potential roadblocks, while the product teams built the products we prepared as much as possible for what we would be handed when on site in Austin, TX. If this wasn’t enough, we decided it was a good idea to overhaul the venue’s sound system so one of Austin’s premiere music venues would have a quality sound system on display for our event and many more going forward. SXSW 2018 was a success so a year later we returned to SXSW 2019 with 210 early production Bose Frames in hand along with over 130+ iOS devices, 80 QC35ii headphones, and tons of prototype firmware/applications that were to arrive at the last minute; we even managed to put Pong on the LED screen for a novel head game.
Here’s a 360 degree venue tour of SXSW 2018.
